High note in Wishing You Were Somehow

Do you know why the OLC version of Wishing You Were Somehow does not include the high note at the end of the song, on the last "Help me say goodbye"? I think that the song ends more assuring that way, as it reflects Christine's grim determination to forget about her past.

I think the tag ending was written for Broadway and Toronto. I don't think the London production ever had it.

Must have been added when POTO opened or Broadway or not too long after, because it started appearing around... 1989 in West End, I think (and they still do it).

The Swedish production didn't have it either (listen to the Swedish cast recording from 1989/1990 with Elisabeth Berg), but it was added later on.

A curious detail:

the Swedish recording, in which "WYWSHA" ends with a lower note, was recorded in late 1989.

The Canadian Cast Highlights was recorded in Oct-Nov 1990 and it features the high-note-ending...
What Is This Feeling?

That is right Brightman does not hit the high not on the OLC recording. And from watching other Christines, they do hit it. I wonder what the current broadway Christine does?

What is the highest note Christine sings in the whole show?

A high E, at the end of the title song.

That's what I thought. Wow. I've got enough range to sing it! A year ago I wanted to hit those notes so badly because I had just seen it. I hit a high G yesterday, so I've been happy-dancing all over the place.

And actually..... none of the Japanese cast CDs features the high note in WYWSHA (I just checked).
