[Roger's Chica]

So, at the end of the month, I will be auditioning for Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. Because her character/songs are essentially characterized as "High Energy - Low Difficulty - Heavy Character", most of my usual audition songs are pretty much cut out. I'm not a confident singer, but I can get the job done.

All I can think of for songs that would fit this type are Annie's in "Annie Get Your Gun", which are no good (they sound ridiculous without the accent and the accent would be ridiculous for OUAM), and "Gee, I'm Glad I'm No One Else But Me" from Anne of Green Gables (too young).

All I need is a two minute chunk of a song that I can sing acapella... and I'm completely at a loss. I'm so ashamed.

Any suggestions of things to look at?

ETA: I know there's an audition songs thread, and I've been reading through it... but it makes my soul weep. Besides, I think everyone can benefit from having a high energy - low difficulty song in their book for just these situations.

What about... now, this may sound odd, "I Gotta' Crow" from Peter Pan. Very high energy. Another idea might be "A Cock-Eyed Optimist" from South Pacific.

Funny, I was thinking something from Peter Pan too. I do think that song would work well.
