Help

If any one knows of a good somewhat dramatic female monologue I could really use your help. I need one to try out for advanced Drama. Oh yeah and I need the monologue to be from a play not a movie.

My favorite dramatic monologue is Nina's monologue from The Seagull by Chekhov. There are multiple translations of this play but find one you like. If you're going to do it, you should read/see the play first. It is one of the best plays I've ever seen, and Nina is a very complicated character.

thats the nina monologue
Also, there are some really good dramatic monologues in Blood Wedding by Federica Garcia Lorca.
oh oh, Maureen's monologue in The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh is such a great monologue. She's this crazy woman and the monologue happens when she's just killed her mother.
There are also a lot of great woman's monologues in Fen by Caryl Churchill.
If you can get your hands on a copy of Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad by Arthur Kopit, there's a couple great female monologues both by Madame Rosepettle and Rosalie. One great one is Madame Rosepettle's when shes telling her date about how she met (and later killed) her huband. But that was turned into a movie, so you might not be allowed to use it.
Good luck!

Just because I'm directing this play right now.... "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds" by Paul Zindel has tons of monologues from an all female cast, and some of them are pretty substantial. Good Luck.

Yea, my friend was recently in that actually, and said it was very good. I'd never heard of it before though. When was it written?

1964, by Paul Zindel. It is quite monologue heavy... to the point that it was such a pain to cut for one act performances...
