HELP!The performing arts college I go to is performing "Urinetown" this fall. We were told to find songs to audition with that match the style of the show, and one woman gave an example of Kurt Weill. I do NOT see any similarities between Weill and Hollman, but maybe I'm wrong?
ANYWAYS...I'm in desperate need of an audition song that would suit Urinetown's style. Anyone have any ideas? I'm a soprano but I can sing fairly low, so range doesn't worry me to much...at this point I just need a song!

first of all, what kind of style is the show, comedy, woodland, jazzy, what?
secondly if you sing something from Rent, wicked or Les mis, the judges won't take to kindly to you, considering all of those songs have been overdone, slaughtered and improved on. There isn't much one can do to change a song to one of those and make it sound great.

listening to the clips of the show from amazon, it seems like another show with similar music might be Wonderful Town ...........what about "A Little Bit In Love" ? it's not very high but it's a soprano role and cute song......whoever said Weil is like this show is crazy IMO

the only Weill type song is Privilege to Pee.
since this show is a parody of musical theatre, it does take off on a lot of classic styles.
