My Name is Augustine. Im new to this forum. I have a bit of a problem. Im currently Attending a Theater conservatory school and for my singing class my teacher wants me to find 3 Uptempo songs and 3 Ballads from a musical that I would like to sing for next semester. The only trouble is, Im nbot a singer. I have no idea about musicals. I come from a pure straight acting back round and so this task is nearly impossible without the help of some people who know musicals more.
Anyone have any suggestions for 3 Uptempo/3Ballads for a novice bass singer?

I am assuming your teacher probably wants you to do some research though and not just have us list a bunch of songs (not to be unkind but I know how these schools work ). I suggest you look up all the major MT composers and see what they have written. Also, check out the singers musical theatre anthology for baritone/bass, they have 4 volumes full of suitable songs and you can look up the table of contents on the publisher's website and listen to samples.
