female patter is hard to come by. try Cole porter's "Lets Not Talk About Love" or "The Wolrd Belongs to the Young" from Coco

"Getting Married Today" from Company... is a more modern female patter song. (Don't let the beginning fool you, wait for Amy's part)

that's what I was going to suggest. how much do i adore that song? so much. |

our amy was ---- brilliant .

We used that song in a revue, and my best friend did it...brilliant as well. Truthfully, she isn't the strongest singer we have, but she kicked the arse out of that patter song. I mean, she brought the effing house down.

"If You Hadn't But You Did" from Two on the Aisle by Styne/Comden/Green...performed here by Kristin Chenoweth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfOdQPH5g8Q&search=chenoweth

Ooh, ooh, How about "Words, Words, Words" from Witches of Eastwick? It graduates from a slower marching type piece to full blown patter and it's AWESOME. Only the best musical ever!

Oh, thanks! So, would "Show Me" from My Fair Lady be a patter song? That might be good for the performance.
| Salome |
Show me is not a patter sdong.
but in My Fair Ldy you have many patter songs Hymn to Hymn, Ordinary Man and WHy Cant The English. |

Patter SongI was listening to my Barbra Streisand "The Broadway Album" and a good song is "Putting It Together" from "Sunday In The Park With George" You could use her lyrics if the original lyrics weren't in full context for you. |

If you don't mind sharing the number with a man, you could do "The Speed Test" from Thoroughly Modern Millie. The song appears at first to be a clever Gilbert and Sullivan pastiche, but is lifted, almost word for word (but changed for context) from the patter song "My Eyes Are Fully Open" from their obscure work Ruddigore.
| Salome |
Ruddigore is far from obscure. plus that song was added to the broadway version of Pirates of Penzance and its film version. |

| Monsieur D'Arque |
Really? I missed that. But Ruddigore is not one of the "Great Big Ones" that even a non-theatre buff knows about... thanks to the pinnacles of blue-collar culture, The Simpsons and Family Guy's broadwayphilia, even hillbillies with rabbit-ears TVs can sing a few songs from HMS Pinafore. Thank you, Sideshow Bob. |
