Help! New 80's Play!

Hello everyone. I am currently working on a new 80's satire play in style with such shows as Back to the 80's and the Awesome 80's Prom that will be presented at my school as a benefit for charity this spring - running a total of 2 performances. After holding a production meeting yesterday night, we all agreed that it might be interesting to add some 80's songs to the show - maybe six or seven - not enough to make it a full blown musical, more like a play with music (sung by characters in the show). Now since we are interested in using some songs in context with a storyline and not just as a review of 80's songs I'm almost positive we'd have to get special permission and\or pay royalties for each song we choose to utilize in the play. We wouldn't be rearranging the songs or anything along those lines just using them as written played by a keyboardist, not a full band. I was wondering if any one on this forum possibly knew how to go about something like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

^She wasn't criticising your piece...she was making a comment on the 80's...

Anyways...as for 80's songs...are you looking at punk music as an option? Like The Ramones or something? You HAVE to have something by The Cure! LOL! Smile

Hope everything's going well!
