if it is with adults you have no chance. maria is supposed to be somewhere in the ballpark of 16-19 I believe.

Probably not, but you never know what the director has in mind. Even if you do audition and don't get the role, you are no worse off than if you don't audition at all. Right?

If it's all kids, then try, but it's not guarenteed.

Well, I just got cast, and I did come pretty close to getting Maria. Alas, someone older snagged the role.

If you're doing a youth show where you're one of the older girls then I'm sure you have a chance. I'm thinking if you're doing a show that has a lot of people who are older than you, though, they'd be more likely to cast someone older.

Thing is, the I was too young for Maria, and the other girl was a little too old. She got it though.
