Help! I need a duet!!I'm doing a recital in the fall and I need a broadway duet for two female belters. If you know of any new shows (other than Wicked) that wouldhave a good one let me know. So far I've come up with "In His Eyes" from Jekyll and Hyde. Nothing Cliche....I want to explore some new stuff too. |

You could try "Take Me Or Leave Me" from Rent. It's not new but it's a good song. |

Here are a few suggestions. The newest one in the bunch is the song from Little Women. I wouldn't say any are really cliche though. The last one (from Closer Than Ever) I have only heard performed once at college and once when I saw the show. It is a great duet though. All are for two females but not all are for two belters.
Good luck! I Know Him So Well from Chess Who Will Love Me As I Am? from Side Show I Still Believe from Miss Saigon The Grass is Always Greener from And the World Goes 'Round How The Other Half Lives from Thoroughly Modern Millie Some Things Are Meant to Be from Little Women Just a Couple of Sisters from Nunsense It's Never That Easy from Closer Than Ever |

I saw it was already listed, but Some Things Are Meant To Be from Little Women comes out amazing. I did it with one of my friends for a school talent show this year. A lot of teachers cried, lol. The harmonies are amazing. It's bittersweet and positive. I was "Beth". |

Usually I use this opportunity to promote the musical I wrote.
www.myspace.com/spiderbabythemusical But the female duet is kind of tranquil and sweet. Not really a belting tune. What about Chicago? Then there's the Great American Trailer Park Musical. Oh wait. A three bedroom house form Bat Boy the Musical. Real belting song wiht fun Sondheimesqe synchapation. Also it's a relativly new show so it still is very fresh. Hope this helps. |

Who will love me as I am isn't a belter song. You'd be better off with Leave me Alone if you wanted something from Side Show. Take me or Leave me is good if you're looking for something newer. You could always go with classic Stepsister's Lament, but that one isn't new. |

Why is nobody mentioning "I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show? Now THAT'S a good belty song! Also, "Who Will Love Me As I Am" starts out soft, but turns into a belty number...The one I just mentioned actually does the same thing... |

Hey, you don't have to take my word for it, but I would suggest "Macavity" from CATS. It's really good for belting.
I should know, I'm singing Demeter's part tomorrow...Hee-hee... |

My daughter is just learning Who Will Love Me As I Am to sing for one person for an audition, but listening to it on the OBC CD, its an amazing song as a duet. |

Marry the Man Today!!! Possibly overdone, but my friend and I performed this for a recital and really overdid the staging etc. and the audience loved it! |

From the 1930's (and thus far from recent), but not overdone is "By the Mississinewah" from Cole Porter's SOMETHING FOR THE BOYS. Two Amer-Indian women are both wed to the same Indian chief and comment on the arrangement, both belting and hilarious. |
