Hot tea and lemon (no sugar)...

Gargle with salt water...

It happens to me all the time (I have wicked bad allergies)... I wish I could remember all of the other things my mother tells me to do... but my brain just went numb... got a cure for that?

What show is it for?

I read somewhere that if you go in with a sore throat or are sick, you can mention it to the casting agents ONE time and one time only. Don't let it look like an excuse for a crappy audition is what they are tryin to say. lol. If you feel better though, I wouldn't mention it.

Get some singers saving grace. I've never used it but from what I've heard from those who have it works miracles.

I have a tendency to get sick every show I do...I'm always recomended to get Throat Coat.

Okay, I posted on the musicaltheatre community on livejournal last summer when I had a sore throat right before rehersals started, then nearly lost my voice because of rehersals...not totally the same thing, most of them were suggestions so I wouldn't lose my voice, but if you'd like to see the post it's here: http://community.livejournal.com/musicaltheatre/466985.html

NEVER make excusses! Not once, not twice, NEVER!!! A first impression is a lasting one. Making one excuss tells the director that you're going to make excusses for everything. If you're really sick, chance are the casting director will catch on and ask you if you're sick... at this point it's safe to say yes. A few sniffles and coughs before and after your vocal audition (fake or not) never hurt either.

You can get singers saving grace at most of those healthy organic stores. That stuff is amazing.

Wow... I totally jinxed myself. I had an audition yesterday, too, and I was fine all day until we walked out the front door to go to the audition. My allergies started acting up so I was coughing and sneezing the entire night. My audition sucked to say the least. So much for that show, eh?

Well good news! I just sucked on cough drops all day and took some cough medicine and did my best at auditions and they went awsome! I guess my singing didnt hurt because i was asked by the director to sing 3 songs from the show and to read a lot. Then he called me and told me i got a pretty good part with even my own solo song and a good amount of lines. In case you were wondering i auditioned for GRAND HOTEL and got the part of Zinnowitz. Thanks for all your help
