HELLO THERE AND ... A LITTLE HELP?

Hello everyone,

what an awesome site! Can't believe it took me so long to find it. Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place - I looked for the "introducing yourself" thread but didn't find it.

My name is Jimmy Mak and I'm the head writer as well as a performer for a professional theater troupe in Cols. OH called Shadowbox. We're known mostly for our year-round performances of sketch comedy and rock n' roll but in the last couple years have started doing Musicals on Sundays. So far we've done Tommy, The Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret and Hair.

Our latest production is an all original musical called Tabloid. We've had 3 performances so far (10 to go) and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We truly believe we have a hit on our hands (or course, we may be a little biased Very Happy )

My question for anyone out there is ... what do we do next? The last thing we want to do once the run is finished is just put this show to bed. We'd like to get it in front of a lot more eyes. Unfortunately, this is kind of a new step for us so we're a litte out to sea. I'd appreciate any feedback or advice you might have. thanks in advance for your time!
music is my life!!!

you could record the show, and maybe put it on the internet. maybe you could get some broadway producers etc to come see your show

For one thing, WELCOME! You seem like you are going to be a great addition to our forums! I hope you enjoy the community!

As for your original musical...I'm definitely not an expert on this, but here is one idea I had:

Send out your script to community theatres. The theatre I'm with gets original pieces occasionally and we just performed an original musical that was sent to us. It's an easy way to get more performances going (and than you can see what works, what doesn't work, etc) and just get your piece out there.

Welcome.

Maybe look into the New York Musical Theatre Festival. I'm sure there are other fringe festivals out there, as well as lots of small professional theatres that might be interested in doing something they could market as a premiere.

Thanks guys,

These are all great ideas. We have a website www.tabloidthemusical.com but i wouldn't have thought of taping the show and putting it on the web. I'll be checking into the festivals and other theaters as well.
