Height limits..In the future, I (and my theatre friends) would like to know..are there normally height limits set in Annie auditions? (This includes Annie.) Are the height limits only for the kids? What are they normally? Sorry to be asking so many questions, but for some reason Annie seems to be a fan favorite around here. Much love! Bookworm |

I'd say it all depends on the adults first, if it's AmDram or Pro. Usually they cast adults and then the kids around them.

Oh, so there's no height "minimum" or maximum for adults?

Not usually, but some directos / casting directors sometimes have their height limits set in their mind already. But others will just have open audition and cast anyone who walks in the door, but say if they casted a small Miss H, they wouldn't cast an Annie who is like 5 foot 2.

They had auditions for the national tour of Annie in my area a while ago and these were their requirements.

if you can tell the difference between the adults and the kids i don't think it matters!

For the national tours the maximum height is 4'10.
EDIT: (For orphans) |

I heard in the UK tour the height limit is 5'2, which seems reasonable to me. I think all that matters is the Warbucks-Annie and Hannigan-Annie height relation. Although Hannigan could be a very short child abuser. Most men are 5'10-6'3 so as long as Annie is shorter it should work. |

The height limits are for the kids. I played Pepper three years in a row, before being "too tall."
That was years past. I'm the ancient age of 18 now, and plan on auditioning for Miss Hannigan as soon as I look old enough. |

Ooh, Hannigan seems like such fun! Good luck getting her. |

Thanks, but I think I have some years to go. A bit off topic and a bit not, care to reply to this? http://musicals.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=920610&highlight=#920610 |
