Heeelp: 'When There Was Me and You'?!

I'm being forced to sing 'When there Was me and You' for an audition, and I'm having a looot of trouble with certain phrases, like:

"Why did I let myself believe" (on the words DID and MYself)
"I thought you were my fairy tale" (on the words THOUGHT and FAIRY)

so its mostly spots where you go from chest to mix or head voice. Is there any way to help/fix this? Also, if there are any directors who have casted the Disney's HSM show before, would you suggest that (for a Gabriella audition) I sing in mostly head or chest voice?

Any help is great!

What exactly are you having trouble with, just hitting the notes from transitions or what?

For Gabriella audition, chest voice, and very pop-style.

Eeeeeepppp! Red flag going up here.

If you are already having trouble with your passaggio (the place where you switch), I wouldn't advise you to force your voice to belt or use chest the whole song. Do you have a voice teacher? I know it's too late for the audition now, but you really need one if you want to continue with musical theatre.

I would say that you need to sing the song where it is comfortable and not pushed for you. Please please don't try to force belting.

Elton John approach, I'd suggest.

Take it lightly through the first voice and chorus. Don't belt at all until the bridge.

Yes, I do have a voice teacher, and have been taking lessons for some time now, but I have not had the opprotunity to work wither her on this song. I am having trouble with the passaggio, as you guys stated before. Thanks for the comments and suggestions, though!
