Either Avenue Q or Cabaret.

It depends on what kind of thing you want...
Classic night in theatre = Sound of Music
A night full of laughter and crudeness (prolly not a word) = Avenue Q
But I can't speak for Cabaret because I don't really know it.

Cabaret or Avenue Q...cuz although SoM is a classic, it will probably be always around.

I should probably elaborate:
Sound of Music...it's a classic, but not many people like it. It's just so blah.
Cabaret...Sexy, dark, but still has lots of political and social issues that require deep thought.
Avenue Q...Crude humor that has theatre fans and non theatre fans laughing almost the entire show.
It's all a matter of taste.

For a night at the theater: Avenue Q
For kicking back at home: Rent the Cabaret movie.

Are we talking about the west end here? If so then CABARET!!!!
I have heard the staging was absolutely incredible. And that the ending was very powerful. I would go see it in a second if I wasn't in TX at the moment.

Cabaret ,the film version is "I Am A Camera" with the songs from "Cabaret" although good..the plot of the origignal stage version of Cabaret is better fleshed out.

The London production of Cabaret is amazing - very powerful - and unique to the West End.
The Sound of Music - whilst very glamorous and beautiful is a musical everyone knows - so, you may not get a huge kick out of it. However - like Cabaret - it is vastly different than the movie.
Avenue Q is good fun, but short and not of a big spectacle (compared to Sound of Music). It is also not a unique production for London (like the previous two)
There's no point asking others what to see, because you will not get a coherent answer. Go and see what you want!

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I ended picking Chicago. I'm probably going to see Cabaret soon anyway.

Sound of Music, without a doubt. I know it's not as well written as the theatre community would like it, but it's a musical with heart.

Cabaret. IMO the best Kander and Ebb piece. I adore it.
