I'm just sitting home and handing out candy. I'll probably watch Evil Dead or something.
I keep reading my friends' twitter and facebook updates about what an amazing time they're having in Santa Barbara. It's kind of depressing me.
My life has become so, so boring in the last 4 months. Blah.

Instead of going to 3 parties tonight, I'm staying in with by best friend Bayleigh, and watching Urban Legends, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Nightmare on Elm Street, all the while drinking Rum Apple Cider. Should be good

I'm majorly dissapointed that none of the video stores have Hocus Pocus. That has to be some sort of blasphemy
Other then that, I will be donning a witch hat and eating/handing out candy to the probably sparse number of kids that will come (the neighbourhood is all growed up now and too old for Trick-or-Treating )

So, Ouija boards are the most fun EVER.
We tried to contact famous dead people... So, because it either happened or we have overactive imaginations, we talked to Johnny Cash and Geoffrey Chaucer. And somehow Chaucer knew the name of my friend's favorite Beatle.
All in all, totally fake, but soooooo much fun.

Um. At the risk of sounding overly cautious, might I sound a note of warning about ouija boards and seances, and in general about trying to contact the spirits of the dead? Sure, you weren't talking to REAL dead people. But you WERE talking to... somethings. And those somethings can feed off the energy generated by a seance/ouija board, and they can hang around, and take form. I'm not kidding you, it happened to my family.
Such things are truly best left strictly alone.

Thank you for the warning.. I'm not planning on ever doing it again. I've always wanted to try it, and now I have.. Thank G-d, nothing happened, and I'm not pushing it any further.

So, I'm never going to try using an Ouija board, but the fact you "talked" to Chaucer made my day.

The convo was sooooo funny, because I'm pretty sure someone was moving it around, but it went like this:
Me: "Is anyone there?"
Planchette moves to "yes".
Then we decided to just ask a random question:
Tatiana: "Who is my favorite Beatle?"
Planchette spells: "R-S".
Her favorite Beatle is Ringo.
Me: "What's your name?"
And it spells G-E-O...
Me: "Are you George Harrison?"
Planchette moves to "no".
Susan: "Finish spelling your name"
And the planchette spells "G-E-O-F-F-R-E-Y-C-H-A-U-C-E-R".
So we all sort of laugh it off, and I say, "What's your favorite tale?"
And it spelled "M-I-L-L-E-R".
So Tatiana asked it how he knew about the Beatles (and this is the part that made me really sure one of us was moving it)...
And it spelled out: I-M-C-O-O-L-L-I-K-E-T-H-A-T.
So, real or not, it was REALLY great fun.. and if it WAS real, Chaucer's a totally groovy dude.

I had far too many orange jello shots and a 6'4 guy dressed in an obama mask hit on me all night. I went as Little Red and Nathan went as the wolf. I'd say it was a pretty legit halloween.

I dressed up as Eric Forman from That 70's Show. It was sort of a last-minute thing, so most people just thought I was either a lumberjack or just the wierd kid wearing plaid.
I went to a party at someone's barn in the middle of nowhere, yet for some reason the cops found out and showed up. Lots of people jumped out the back window and ran into the woods, but I called my parents like they asked...looking back, I should have gotten one of my friends to pretend to be my mother on the phone and then tell the cop I had permission to ride home with someone who would take me to my friend's house where I was saying.
And luckily they said it's not staying on our record, and so the worst punishment is the one I'm gonna get from my parents--I'm hoping my mom will keep my dad in line, because she realizes that if she got on me for drinking she'd be a hypocrite, considering she came home every weekend in high school puking her guts out.
So...was my 17th birthday a success? I think so.

I had a weekend long Halloween in Chi-town. I am a champion.
No but really I just had a great time in general, I was really happy the whole weekend.
Tumnus, they actually took you guys' names down at the party?? I've never had experiences with cops where they actually care enough to do that. They're usually just like, everyone go home, and leave it at that.

Yeah, they were just kinda pissed, because apparently it was their third party they had to visit that night. I still have no idea how they found out, considering we were in some barn in the middle of nowhere, but whatever. The form was just a release form; it doesn't go on our records, but apparently if you fill out more than one you have to go to jail. See if I'll ever do that again.
I was the only kid at my school who got punished by his parents - no car for a month. For my first time drinking. On my birthday. Not even a full beer. (I mean, that's kind of a lie, but that's what I told my parents and they don't know any better.)
Compare with the guy who drank 15 beers and was too drunk to fill out his form just got yelled at by his mom. FML.

They probably know you're lying. No one goes to an underage alcohol Halloween party on their birthday and drinks half a beer.
But what's with all this losing of cars and getting yelled at? Your parents are, like, total prudes. My sister and I never got in trouble for drinking. There are, as they say, worse things I could do.

My parents are the same way; even when I was starting high school, it really never concerned them very much.

Complete opposite. My parents--most notably... mother--is staunchly against drinking. I had a hell of a time when I was in my early 20's. She'd completely flip out if I had the faintest alcohol odor on my breath.
It was very stressful and downright oppressive at the time. Now I sort of see her point; I was absolutely out of control, heh.

Hahaha, they probably do. But regardless, it still sucks.
The fact that they actually punished me pisses me off too. My mother's not the one who's a prude - she just looked at my dad and said "Really? You never expected your seventeen year old son to ever TRY alcohol?" She thought it was funny, mostly because she would start coming home every weekend puking her guts out when she was fifteen. 'Course, our family is FULL of alcoholics, so she probably just doesn't want me to turn out like the rest of them.
My dad's the one who flipped his sh*t, though. He wanted to take my car and phone away until January. JANUARY. Luckily my mom stepped in and said "Um, no, that's retarded." She couldn't convince him any further than that, she said.
I think my dad's just bitter because he ALWAYS got caught when he was in high school. At least my mom's not being a hypocrite about it.
I dunno. Maybe it's because I'm like my class's "golden boy" and so my dad's just super-pissed I stepped out of line; then again, my friends all say that would be a reason NOT to punish me - since I've never made a bad choice before as far as my parents know, they should be especially lenient considering it's my "first offense."
