SBD has given me permission to do a forum cast for Hairspray!

The rules are as follows: (mostly stolen from The Secret Garden forum cast)

1.The auditions will go from three weeks, starting Sunday, November 15 and ending Saturday, December 5. The voting will be from Sunday, December 6 until Saturday, December 19. If you vote before or after the time of voting, your votes will not be counted. I will vote post the results as soon as I can after that.

2. You can audition for more than one character.

3. Casting will be color-blind, but not gender-blind. (Edna is a male role.)

4. When voting, you may vote for yourself once, and it must be for a role you auditioned for.

5. Please vote for all the characters, not just one or a couple.

6. Please vote for only one character per person.

7. Obviously, the person with the most votes wins the role.

8. In the event of a tie, I will draw from a hat. However, if it's a tie, and one of the person in the tie has won another role, I will give that role to the other person in the tie. If neither person wins another role, the name I don't pull from a hat will be the understudy.

9. If a person wins for multiple roles, I will select from a hat which role he will get, and then the second place finishers in the other roles will be cast. (Except in the case of a tie, as mentioned above.)

10. You do not have to audition to vote.

11. The understudies will be the runner-ups for the roles.

12. If people only auditioned for the lead and didn't get cast, I will put them in any ensemble role that was not cast.

Why you deserve this role: Penny is easily my favorite role in this show, and I think she can be played with a lot of depth beyond just the basic skeleton of her character. I personally relate to the part, mostly because of her awkward self-consciousness. I'm also a super awkward dancer, which would work out for this role.
Technically speaking, this role is right in my voice range. I would pretty much die to be in a real production of it, because right now, my performance is limited to singing the songs in my room.

Why you deserve this role: My two favorite roles in the show! I feel like they'd be such fun to play, and could easily steal the show. But, I never, ever get parts like these in real life. Which sucks, because I think that I could totally rock it So that's why I'm here, LOL!

Why you deserve this role:
Amber: I would absolutely love the chance to play Amber. I've always wanted to play the mean girl, but because I have a very sweet natured personality IRL, I am not often cast in the bitchy roles, but it is WELL within my acting range. I always think the nicest girls are the best at playing the mean girls because they get the opportunity to be the complete opposite and it's just a blast! Basically, would just love to play a role that is such a departure from myself and I think I would do a great job with it.
Penny: I would also love to play Penny as well. Penny is definitely more like me IRL. I'm really goofy and I've been told I have excellent comedic timing, which are great skills/attributes to have for Penny. But I also can surprise people with my big belt voice (since most people are used to hearing me sing soprano). Penny is just such a silly, fun role I think I could also do a great job with.
Tammy, Lou Ann, Shelley: If I couldn't be Penny or Amber, I think being one of the council girls would be a BLAST. I love dancing. Although I wouldn't call myself a legit dancer, I have a lot of energy and I am very committed to being expressive and in character while dancing. I was dance captain for my high school production of Bye Bye Birdie, and the dancing style is very similar to Hairspray, so I think the dancing is within my skill level. Plus, being a crazy teenager fawning over a heartthrob is also silly fun.

Why you deserve this role:
Velma/Amber: Oh, what I would give to play the bitch of the show! Being only 20, I may not be age appropriate for Velma..but I sure as hell would like to try anyways! (Besides..a little stage makeup never hurt anyone ) I feel like I have a lot to offer for this role, and would like to explore deeper into her character. Although I can't directly relate to this character, I would definitely be up to the challenge of doing this role justice with my sense of humor, acting abilities, and mezzo belt.
Tammy, Lou Ann, Shelley: If I can't play the bitch, I'd at least like to bring my happy side out and play one of these charismatic ladies

Why you deserve this role:
Tracy Turnblad - I love the role of Tracey Turnblad, but I'd probably never get to play her in real life (wrong body type). It would be awesome to take on her character, and her songs are immense.
Amber Von Tussle - Amber would be a fun part to play, as I've never really taken on the bitchy girl role. I think it would be a cool challenge for me to take on.
Penny Pingleton - Penny is a lot like me in real life, so it would be easy to act. I love the fact that this is a comedic role, which I prefer to play.
Motormouth Maybelle - I love the message that Motormouth stands for, and the hope she exudes in spite of the segregation around her. I think I could capture her spirit.
