Hairspray audition song helpI'm going to the Hairspray open calls this Thursday and I really need help with an audition song. It says to prepare a "brief 1960's-style pop song showing range." I'm going to be auditioning for Penny and Amber. I am usually a soprano 1/2, but I have a strong belting voice as well. I have played Zaneeta in The Music Man, who kind of reminds me of Penny.Oh....and is anyone else going to these auditions? |

Might be more 50's than 60's, but what about "Since I Don't have You"?. Other than that, you could maybe try "It's My Party". | ||

It's totally legit! Sometimes they even post stuff that Backstage doesn't have... |

Ok, good. Thank you so much..... I wasn't really too sure if I should even go through with it because I had never heard of the website before, but I'm going! |

Ahh, groovy. Good luck! I don't know what to suggest; I know a lot of 50's/60's songs, but I'm not sure what would be a good song to show range... Hmm. I wish I had a better idea. If I were you I'd sing something reminiscent of the old girl groups like Diana Ross/the Supremes, the Marvelettes, etc. Something Motown, definitely. But nerdy? I dunno.
I realize that this response probably isn't going to help you at all, but at least you have my support! Lol, sorry.

No, it's totally fine! I love support !! haha. welllll anyway... I semi-picked a song but it's not definate because I don't really think it shows much range and I'm not really really good at it. It's "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss.)" Any more suggestions? |
