Hair... in need of a revival?so, i was checkin out the internet broadway database and it seems that aside from a one-performance special back in 2004, Hair hasnt been revived since 1977... and for whatever reason, it flopped after 43 performances and 79 previews.i dont know much about the show, but after seeing a commercial for the '77 revival online, i thought it'd be a great fun show to go see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBqP3yOYx4U |

I've gotta say, that commercial was brutal.

Yes, much agreed with musikal_geek. That was pretty damn brutal. I think some theatre author at the time put it best when she said that the 1977 revival failed because the show was too dated to be relevant to the Seventies and it was too early for it to be a museum piece of the Sixties.
That said, I think that Hair does need a revival. A few have attempted to surface over the past few years, and have been shot down in flames for whatever reason. |

yeah, i saw the dates of the original run, and i'd figured that the revival must've been much too soon. i just want to see it - i barely know what it's about. the songs seem good. i saw on amazon.com that theres a double-cd album with the original off-b'way and obc recording. anyone know if this is worth it?? |

What with the upcoming closing of RENT, I'd say that a revival of "HAIR" is very much needed!
