Guy song for girl audition?

I want to audition for INTO THE WOODS (at my university), and even though I could sing Cinderella, I think I can "perform" better belting, but I can't think of any good alto/mezzo songs for a Sondheim audition.

I'm wondering if it's a no-no to sing a guy's song transposed higher?

Specifically, "Something's Coming" from WSS, because I used to perform it for competitions (talent shows, etc.), I'm pretty durn good with the delivery of it, and I know Barbra Streisand covered it a couple times.

If not that, I was also thinking "Not While I'm Around" from SWEENEY TODD, in the key the boy in the film sang it.

Thanks for your help!

First of all, in regards to your question, the answer the music theatre department at my uni gives is to only ever do it if a) the song is non-gender-specific and b) it is the absolute BEST song to show off your voice.

However, I have to say ... there are many, many belty Sondheim songs, and if belting is your strength, I have to say that I find it hard to believe that absolutely none of them would work for your audition.
