Grease rightsA theatre that I recently worked with just announced that they want to do Grease next year.
With Grease opening in NYC for the revival, do you think they will restrict the rights at all? I wasn't sure, so I thought I would gather some thoughts from this board.
Do they restrict rights for a revival at all? I don't seem to remember the LSoH rights being restricted a few years ago?
Thanks.

The easiest way to find out is to call the toll free number of whomever licenses Grease - it might depend on proximity to NYC, too. We are doing Apple Tree, and even though it just closed, our rates were CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!

Likewise, a local college did ACL right around the time it opened on Broadway.

Well I was just cast in Grease for this summer, and we're in upstate NY, only 4 hours from NYC, and opening just a week before the Broadway Revival, and we managed to hold onto the rights, so I don't think you should have a problem! Just my opinion though!
