Grease! at my High SchoolThats right...the same high school that put on excellent musicals such as Les Miserables, West Side Story, and Into the Woods is now going to stoop to such levels and produce Grease! the musical. Lord help us.
That being said...
I need to find a good part to concentrate on.
I am 16 years old, 5'11", Red hair, Baritone/2nd Tenor. I have alot of experience with musicals and I am a strong dancer.
I want to consider the role of Danny, but im not exactly sure that i fit the physical standard that my Directors are looking for. Another consideration would be Kenicke (sp?) but once again, I am not sure about the show, because i havent read the stage version.
So if someone would take it upon themselves to post a character/description list according to the Stage version I would greatly appreciate it.
~Thanks All!

How high can you sing? All the singing guy leads 'scept for Kenickie (and maybe like Teen Angel and Johnny Casino) sing fairly high. If you're a true 2nd tenor you should be alright for most of the stuff, though Danny goes to a B flat. Roger and Doody both sing songs that rest fairly high but never go above an A flat.
Oh and if you don't know the stage show...Roger and Doody are both great parts, the only two good parts in the show in my opinion. Both are supposed to be the younger ones in the group and Roger sings Mooning and Doody Those Magic Changes. They sing Rock and Roll Party Queen together as well If I were you I'd shoot for those parts, they're cooler than Kenickie and Danny.

Hey thanks i'll keep that in mind going into the show, Our audition process is going to be an initial vocal evaluation where we sing chords and specific phrases, followed by a short dance evaluation, and then every actor considered for lead roles will have a callback where a song from the show is performed....
I was thinking "Alone at a Drive in Movie" for mine.

go for kenickie-- his song is low enough (greased lightning) and he gets to dance a lot and be pretty cool
doody, roger, and sonny are more boyish but have great bits-- doody and roger's songs (those magic changes/mooning) are pretty good--especially doody's. and sonny's bit with ms lynch is really funny if done right.
being danny isn't as great as it's cracked up-- his songs are pretty lame
teen angel is only in the show for like 5 minutes and his song is hiiigh
