ok, so I got the part of Gracie in the Music Man at my school. We are doing the shorter version of the play. I just found out my last school day before winter break, and I don't have a script.
I was wondering a few things:

-how many total scenes will I be in ?
-do i get to sing in the chorus ? (like as a townsperson, it is a smaller school, so there is a smaller cast)
-do I get to dance ?(i know in the movie gracie gets to dance)

It really depends on your director. I played Zaneeta and our director chose to combine the roles of Gracie and Zaneeta. I know that Gracie has a few lines right before "76 Trombones" and "Wells Fargo Wagon" and I'm pretty sure she has a solo line in Wells Fargo as well.

Gracie has a line before 76 trombones and Wells Fargo. In our play she sang with the chorus (everybody did except Mayor Shinn) and danced in the shapoopie and Marian the Librarian. Wells Fargo doesn't have designated solo lines for anyone except Winthrop and the Quartet, but anyone can be assigned one.
