got the sides, what do i do with em?For a callback tomorrow night at about 8:30PM. Got the sides on Monday and have been reading them out loud a lot just to get used to saying the words and whatnot. I sat down and brainstormed objectives, tactics, moment befores, high stakes, relationship details, but what else do I do to prepare?
It was great being given the sides a whole 5 days ahead of time! I've sat down with em for about a total of 2 hours so far. But what else should I do?
I want this part so badly. Getting this part means a lot. Getting this part and working with this theater means that every future audition I go to, people are gonna say, Oh I see you worked with Theater A so we'd like to just go ahead and offer you the lead.
So since I have the sides and one more night to prepare, please please tell me what I should do to kick this callback's ass!

I'll be the first to ask:
What the hell are "the sides"?

pieces of scenes of a script given to be read at an audition.
What I would do, darling, is to prepare them just as you would a monologue, and to brainstorm all of the possible ways you could take the character.. but don't solidify anything. Figure out who your character is, and try and search for every direction you can see it being taken from. Be totally prepared to read them, and take direction from the casting team as to how they'd like it done. if you have any questions, prepare them to ask before you begin.
Mainly.. just be comfortable with the piece, and the character, and the others around, and the situation.. then.. RELAX INTO IT. And do what it is you know how to.
