Got an interesting question for all of you! :)I will be attending a musical theater party in a few weeks, and wanted to get your guys' opinion.
You are supposed to come dressed as someone (or something) from a musical. It can be ANY musical. I think I'm going to stay away from anything that's currently being obsessed on by a gazillion people (aka Wicked)...trying to find something original (and hopefully recognizable).
I'd LOVE ideas on pairs (guy and a girl) and ideas for just girls.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
THANK YOU ALL!

I've always thought it would be cool to go somewhere as The Phantom and Christine, but that's probably going to be overdone as well. Seymour and Audrey, Belle and The Beast, Msr and Mme Thenardier, Annie Oakley and Frank Butler, Millie and Jimmy, Guenevere and King Arthur (or Lancelot) Velma Kelly (with or without poor Charlie with a fatal wound); Lorelei Lee, Gypsy Rose Lee....

I believe Riff Raff and Magenta is a good pairing, and it's one I do several times a year for similar events.

Ulla and Leo from Producers would be good. Or a Girl in Pearls or a dancing Natzi.

Don Quixote and Aldonza
Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett (probably overdone)
Jamie and Kathy (L5Y)
Tracy Turnblad and Link Larkin
'Enry 'Iggins and Eloiza (My Fair Lady)
Charlie Brown and Sally/Lucy/Snoopy
Just to name a few

- Dot and George from Sunday in the Park With George
- The Baker and his Wife from Into the Woods
- Mary Poppins with or without Bert
- Truly Scrumptious (with or without Caractacus Potts) or Lord and Lady Bombast, although that's quite obscure - Chitty never made it to Broadway, did it?
- Laurey and Curly from Oklahoma!
- Sally Bowles
- Marius and Cosette in their wedding finery
- Brad and Janet
- Danny and Sandy (although I can see that being a popular one)
- Norma and Joe, if you want to age up!

It did actually, less than a year I think, but it starred Raul Esparza. I was one of the few who saw it and was less than inspired. But it was cute enough and had a children's ensemble big enough to fill an elementary school. Don't quite no why they hired so many children.
If you want to go cheap, Mimi and Roger or Mark and Maureen from Rent could be fun.
Anna and the King of Siam from the King and I is also an obvious costume to recognize, in my opinion.

Ya, my uncle, who works on Broadway, actually worked on Chitty. I'm not entirely sure of his title, but he figures out all the payrolls of the actors... or something like that... He has also been associated with big-name shows like Phantom and Les Mis.
