It's not for an audition - it's for my Musical Theatre Presentation class at school.

I'm a legit soprano as well as a belter, but I've not been singing soprano for a few months now, so I'd like to get back into it. However, I'm looking for soprano songs that AREN'T ingenue roles. I've sang Laurey, Sarah, Joanna, Eliza, and all those other roles tons of times. I'm pretty petite and I'm trying to get some repertoire that will show off my range, but also doesn't get me typecast as young, or cute (I have plenty of songs in my book for that for the appropriate auditions). Someone suggested a couple of Lizzie's songs from 110 in the Shade, but I don't know the show too well.

If anyone can help me, I'd extremely appreciate it - thanks!

Here are two songs from the book I really love

Before I Gaze At You Again-Camelot

You just don't hear these as often. Atleast I haven't. Their really pretty too and grown up.

Another song I like is Moonfall-The Mystery of Edwin Drood

That is in another anthology book and has accompiment for extra money as well.

Moonfall is just one of the most unusual prettiest songs i've ever heard from a musical. I just love it. Discovered it recently. Never heard it anywhere else either. Any of the Soprano antholgies or mezzo are great. I just bought all the books recently.. cept for the first soprano.. I kept messing up and forgetting one book or cd accompaiment/had to order it hehehe. just so many of the books/cds just like ah. It's great though. I reccomend every man/woman to get all of them. It's exspensive but worth it! The cds are a must

non-ingenue songs for sopranos are really hard to find........i've always tried to find them because ,like you, I've gotten sick of singing the ingenue

take a look at "I Hate Men" from Kiss Me Kate

and if you have a nice high B take a look at "Vanilla Ice Cream" from She Loves Me....it's not too ingenue-y and it's a lot of fun to act

also "I Want to Be A Prima Donna" is cute but again has a nice high B or Bb (I cant remember which)

I saw She Loves Me in 6th grade and Vanilla Ice Cream was my favorite song.
Definatly go with that one.
