Good Jazzy and Upbeat songs for Audtions

Hi all I am gathering stuff to make a binder that I can take with me to auditions and have some good songs. Ballads and Uptemos. I have a harder time finding get upbeat songs. Any Suggestions? I can sing somewhat low. I'm definately a Mezzo Soprano. I'm start to get up there with higher notes. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly.

Songs Ihave in mind so far

Always True to you in my F ashion-Kiss Me Kate

I Got Rhythm*working on this one right now*

A Trip to the Library-She Loves Me

I Can Cook Too-On the Town
godspizzle56

"Nothing" - A Chorus Line (shows off acting and singing well)

"Whatever Lola Wants" - Damn Yankees (shows off lower range)

"Adelaide's Lament"-Guys and Dolls (if you can pull off the accent)

A couple songs from Thoroughly Modern Millie are great uptempo mezzo songs.

That's all I can think of for now! Sorry if this didn't help.

I found a really great one that Idina Menzel sings in "The Wild Party," called "The Life of the Party." I may do it for an audition soon...Lots of fun!

'my new philosophy' from you're a good man, charlie brown

well "sympathy tenderness" from j&h might work?

also look at "Till I get it Right" by Tammy Wynette. I just directed Stand By Your Man: The Tammy WYnette Story and this song is beautiful: can be very Jazzy and no one else will be doing it at an audiiton

upbeat: Le Jazz hot (obviosuly) from Victor/Victoria

Return to Paradise

good standby: Stormy Weather

There are some great female solos in Lachuisa's The Wild Party take a lookie (most girls sing songs from the other wild party)

Dunno if it's jazzy, but it's definitely a fun, uptempo song: "Everything's Comin' Up Roses" from Gypsy. Depending on your arrangement, it can be an alto or mezzo soprano song.
