So, like so many others, I need help picking a song for auditions. I am auditioning for Godspell next week and hope to get either Peggy (I love "By My Side") or Robin. I haven't been on stage for about 8 years, and am very nervous (but ecstatic!) to go back. I need to pick 32 bars of 2 contrasting songs, not from Godspell itself, to sing. I was thinking of singing "Stranger to the Rain" from "Children of Eden" (the last musical I was in). I also wanted to pick an upbeat/pop song, but I don't know a lot of songs from musicals. Is it ok for me to sing a pop song from the radio, not a musical? Any suggestions for an upbeat song? I am an alto in my mid-20s.
