Linda

go see Amy Spanger in The Wedding Singer!

She is so good in this. She almost steals the show from Laura Benanti.
Kev

she really does

but let's face it, it's easy to steal a show from the icy Laura Benanti

I think it is the matter of the right role.

Truth be told. I did not care for Amy in Kiss Me Kate. Much preferred Nancy Anderson who was in the tour. Yet I did not care for Nancy when I saw her in Wonderful Town. I also really liked Laura in the Into the Woods revival.

To be fair, Amy's role is really the juicier of the two. Laura does not get much to do.

i saw the "wedding singer" a few weeks ago...it's not that laura doesn't have alot to do it's just the fact she comes across SO COLD on stage it made me not care the least for the character - i'm sure her standby comes across alot better.

amy was fabulous and i don't believe i'm saying his cause i hated her amneris but felicia was also fabulous in her 15min role...

I still think Amy's role of Holly is flashier.

I saw Tina Maddigan who is Laura's standby when Tina was in Mamma Mia. She was okay, but she does seem like she would come across more believable as a waitress. But to me, Laura seems likeable enough on stage - certainly not as cold as you believe her to be.

And, yeah, Felicia Finley is a hoot too. Smile
At the stage door, someone commented to her about seeing her as Amneris, and Felicia said "yeah, now Amneris strips". She was super friendly at the stage door. Talking and joking with the people.

saw "Wedding Singer" again on Friday night....still find Larua B to be cold in her role - and pretty much everyone around me has sorta the same comments.

amy spanger just keeps getting better and better in her role...watching Amy dance up a storm from the front row was an enjoyable way to spend a Friday night...
