Glenn Close?

Can someone please explain the South Pacific movie remake with Glenn Close as Nellie? I have only seen the original film and would like to know more about it. Thanks!

Yeah, I've tried that already and well, um, it didn't really come up with any specific details about the movie. Why would I waste my time waiting for an answer here if I could find it on google?

So, does anyone else have a GOOD response?

lets see..as brillaint as Glenn Close is she is totally miscast as Nellie. the supporting cast is good..esp. Jack Thompson as Brackett. but they take too many liberties with Act II and wind up ruining the piece in the end.

I went to a read through of the script for the first time last night and the bit in the Glen Close film where Cable [is it?] refuses to marry Liat is much longer in the film. There is a whole section about him worrying that his parents would not accept BM etc. Am I right about this change? Or is my memory wrong?

Glenn Close is a great actress but I just don't like her singing and she was not fit to play Nellie. d'oh!

Glenn CLose sings wonderfully in Sunset Blvd,Rex and Barnum..her voice is not suited for Nellie though..neither is her age.

I love glenn but this version sucked!!! (especially if you are want to see it in the order it was intended) i love seeing movie musicals that are the same as on stage (same order same songs no extras nothing missing) and i hate it when they drastically change it (little shop, the sound of music)

Aww, this version was on TV over the Christmas holidays, however, we somehow had a notion that it was a film version of the musical. I've since realised it was just a newer remake of the musical. Annoyed that we ignored it.

What happened with Glenn is she was the one who came up with the idea to redo the movie. She said in an interview that "nowhere could she play Nellie, and she always wanted to remake the movie so this was her shot to play her."

i think Gleen Close is great but I do not like her at all in South Pacific, as Nellie. Her voice, her age, and look is all wrong and I don't understand it at all.
