Hi,

I'm an eighth grader in middle school. One of the two (and most likely) choices for our spring musical this year is the Getting to Know You Oklahoma. Basically, from what I got off thier website, the Getting to Know You collection is like the infamous Broadway Jr (shortened songs and track CDs for shows, but with Rodgers and Hammerstien shows instead of MTI. I believe the collection was begun quite recently. From the last time I checked on the website, there were only four shortened sections of R&H shows in it.

Anyway, has anyone seen a Getting To Know You production of any show? Before our director told my friend (a personal favorite of hers) about the collection, I had no idea it existed. If anyone could give me any personal information or opinions on the Getting to Know You collection, particurally the Oklahoma one, I would be extremely happy. Thank you!

This is a really late response, but it's better than none...

My sister is in it right now at her middle school.
The songs are shortened, some are cut, dialogue is cut/shortened, but it's overall still a good show.

I hate Broadway Jr. shows, but I actually am happy with what was cut. Oklahoma! is too long for middle schools, and can get boring if you don't keep up the energy, so I like what they did with it for the Getting to Know... version!
