Getting Lost in the Woods Today

I am auditioning for a youth theatre production of Into the Woods today! I'm a little nervous, but I'm really anticipating the start of this production! I am auditioning for Jack as my first choice and Rapunzel's Prince as my second. Wish me luck! Very Happy

Thanks guys! I just returned home from the auditions and I have to say that I would not want to have to cast this show myself! The male roles will be hard enough to cast, but the female roles?! There were tons of decent girls there! If the director decided to have a different cast for all five performances, he certainly would have the talent for it! (not that he should cast five different groups... Shocked ) I won't find out what part I got until Friday or Saturday, but I feel comfortable waiting because it was a good audition for everyone. There isn't anyone who auditioned who couldn't handle a role in this show, so, we'll see what happens!

Wow! Congratulations. I wish we were lucky to have such talent audition for the youth theatre groups here! Sounds like it will be an excellent show.

Good Luck!
I hope you get what you want.
Dude, if I was a guy, I would totally be Jack, hands down.

I just found out what part I got a few minutes ago. I will be playing Rapunzel's Prince. I'm a little dissapointed, but I'm okay with it. It's a great part to play and I'm excited to get started!

Would you consider Rapunzel's Prince to be a featured role or a supporting role? I thought it would be considered a featured role, but I'm being told that it is supporting. What do you think?
candleshoe07

I think he would definately be considered a Supporting Role more than a Featured Role.
Baker

Featured roles in this are few... the only characters I would consider featured would be Granny, the Wolf, Cinderella's Mother, Cinderella's Father, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and possibly the Steward. If you want to look at technically, Rapunzel might also be considered featured.
Salome

featured is just another word for supporting. on broadway the awards are for lead and featured. in film is lead and supporting.
Baker

Oh right... I guess I was thinking featured more like cameo...

I was too. For all of the school shows in the area, a company gives awards to Best Lead, Best Supporting, and Best Featured, plus other awards.

Musical Update:

You really get a different perspective of the music when you are learning to sing it! I never ever ever liked "Ever After" at all until I learned it yesterday. It's a great element to the show, and it's a lot of fun to sing! We also learned the Act II Finale yesterday! There is so much going on in every musical number, it's incredible! I always loved Into the Woods, but now I love it even more! I've had a musical revelation! Razz
