I have everyone call me by character name from Tech Week to the end of the run. It works for some people, but not everybody.

When I want to get into character I remind myself over and over that I am (in this case) Sarah. Go off by yourself for atleast 10 min. and just think of your character. Also another thing is go and say your lines infront of a mirror. Make sure you watch everything you do. If you don't think it is in Character you can change it. You are your worst critic when you are happy with the way it looks it will be easy to get into character. Oh and for Sarah I would get into the habit of wearing button downs and playing with that one button when you get nervous. The first couple times it will not feel natural but then you will make it a habit quick and then you are just adopting that habit from your character. I hope this helps! I usually have trouble coming out of character! it takes me about a month after a show to get completely out of character!

Aside from the various methods people have mentioned, I think an effective tactic is to focus back on the actual production. Go back and in each scene ask yourself what does Sarah want and what does she do to get what she wants. Then ask yourself why, and you may find your character has developed just by actively (and earnestly) pursuing her wants.

Thanks, guys...
I still play with my shirt buttons (if I've got 'em)
I think that Sarah Brown was my favorite role to play ever. I think it's really help me improve as an actress.

Always have a 'moment before' in mind when you go onstage. What was your character doing before she entered the scene? That kind of thing always plays a part in how a character addresses the issues the is presented with in that scene, so the moment before is pretty important. Also, to get into character I like to take 20-30 minutes before the show and just lie down and totally relax every single muscle in my body. From there, try imagining situations in your characters life that shape her personality. You could imagine conversations with Sky, or working at the mission, just those certain things that your character would think about. I hope that helps, break a leg!
