getting away with it......

Hey, I know a few of you have been involved with productions of Cabaret and that some of those used the revival script with the couple of songs that go along with it. So how many of you got away with it? I really want to do this show for our spring musical but would like more if we could do it with Mein Heir, I Don't Care Much, etc. But how did you all go about getting the music for a whole orchestra?
Monsieur D'Arque

Most, but not all of the orchestration is indicated in the revival score, which you probably have. Anyone involved in score trading probably has this one. If you don't have a copy yourself, PM me and we'll talk.

Tams Witmark lists the revival version on their website... so as long as you get the rights I think you'll be okay. Unless you want to mix versions (which I do)... then they might get mad.

It was included in our rights package. We used Mein Herr, that new song for Cliff (the name escapes me at the moment) and the alternate "telephone song" scoring. All totally legal and above-board.

wait, what? the revival is listed? when did this happen? I called them about the available versions of Cabaret back in September and they only had the the original and the 80's revival. Has it changed since then? Any way we wouldn't be starting it till late March for a late May opening so i still have time.

i've heard people say that if they got a version without "Maybe This Time", they just used the piano from the available vocal selections.

Oh, I'm sorry. You're right. I saw "Revised" and "19" and "8" and assumed it was "Revised 1998"... woops!
