Funny Female Solo

So I'm thinking of doing the end of year choir talent show at school, and I'm not sure what to sing. I was considering Show Off from Drowsy Chaperone, but I'm not sure about it. I'd like to do something funny if possible because there's money involved for winners and humor always wins audiences over. I can sing anywhere, soprano, alto, whatever, though I'd prefer a lower to mid-range belty song for this.

Any suggestions?

I'm a fan of If You Hadn't But You Did.

Also, The Boy From... can be hilarious when done right.

Sondheim's "I Never DO Anything Twice" is a brilliant song! hysterical.

Also try "Where Would You Get Your Coat" or 'Satin and Silk" by Cole porter.

I know this could be a slightly overdone song....but i love singing Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls.....it can get some good laughs! Very Happy

You could try try Worst Pies in London...but if you want to make it really funny, stick as close to Lansbury's performance without completely ripping it off...it's easily the funniest out of the three best known (her's, LuPone's and HBC's)

By The Sea would also work... it may even be better because it's easier to make funny. Once again, look to Lansbury to make it really funny.

Taylor the latte boy works if you act the HELL out of it

The Girl in 14g is good...not really "funny" though

show off would be hard to do as a solo in a cabaret, i think...i was thinking about it for mine but would need to fill all those interludes, yannow?

i'll keep thinking Smile

A Summer in Ohio from The Last Five Years can be really funny if done well.
ILoveToSing2010

"Little Girls" from Annie
ErikProuvaire

"Not Getting Married Today" from Company
It wasn't originally a solo, but it isn't really that hard to make it one. On the cast recording of Putting It Together, Julie Andrews does it really well as a solo.

"You Can Always Count On Me" from City of Angels.

One of my best friend just did it as a cabaret piece and got a ton of laughs.

^^ That is a fantastic song! So funny.

"If You Hadn't But You Did" is also a great suggestion. You can really dig deep with that.

If you're really set on Drowsy, I would go with Bride's Lament or As We Stumble Along instead of Show Off.

I would avoid Adelaide's Lament, Summer in Ohio, Girl in 14G and Latte Boy, as all are pretty darn overdone. I would also stay away from Sweeney, since the movie and revival were so recent.

Gooch's Song (if you have the high B) from Mame, Swamps of Home or Happily Ever After from Mattress, He Called Me from I Love You...Now Change, Where's My Other Shoe or A Trip to the Library from She Loves Me, Surabaya Santa from SFANW, and Come Out of the Dumpster from Wedding Singer all might be other choices, off the top of my head.

To add my two cents to all these great suggestions, I think "One Hundred Easy Ways" from Wonderful Town can be a real hoot Smile

Most Cole Porter stuff. Also - Coward. Also - "Where in the world is my prince" from Miss Spectacular. "arthur" from The Act.
