My parents met.

The world's Fair was great. and Woodstock. I was such a total hippie chic I tried to wear flowered bell bottoms to school. A note was sent home for my parents.

I too loved the Worlds Fair. There was nothing like it. Also was in the live audience of the Match Game once as a kid and that was exciting.

Martin Luther King and others and the end of outright segregation at the polls and in schools.

Fiddler on the Roof
Promises Promises
Man of La Mancha(which premiered at Goodspeed)
Many more great Broadway musicals
Music man's national tour with John Raitt, the first professional musical I saw live and the first star.

Get Smart and Laugh In and Batman

The Mets winning the 1969 world series!!!

Get Smart was pure genius.
Love the Avengers too.
The Prisoner.

And yes, I'll say it. Star Trek. There wouldn' t be half as much fun in the world without Trekkies to laugh at.

My favourite show in the world started; Doctor Who

Oh dear...

my dear husband actually belongs to a Dr. Who watching club (they get the DVDs before they air in the US)
Quique

I had flowery bell-bottoms too - home-made-, but my mum NEVER let me wear a mini because she said my legs were too big and I'd look ridiculous. Way to go, mom, bolstering a teenager's confidence!

The Sixties were.... very controlled for me. VERY controlled. I was allowed to buy the Monkees singles but that was about it.
We weren't allowed to go into our local town on our own or with friends, because Mum said it was nasty, loud, and common, and dangerous.

Being a teenager in the Sixties wasn't necessarily a flowerfest. Parents still had control over what you did!

In 1969 my local school district finally allowed girls to wear PANTS to school. Jeans followed two or three years later...my first pair of "jeans" were white flowered denim.

They were just mentioned: The Monkees, brilliant show, still being repeated when I was growing up in the 80's!

I was president of the local chapter of the Monkees Fan Club. I've seen them in concert several times. I love Peter Tork. Still.

^My Mom owns a pair of Mickey Dolenz drumsticks...(She poured a beer over some chick in the front row at a concert that was being obnoxious and Mickey gave her the drumsticks after their set was done! LOL!)
