Footloose Auditions!Howdy everyone! Me again with *gasp* an audition help plea!
Here is the situation.
My school is doing Footloose! I am thinking of going for Rusty. I am a junior, mezzo/alto comic actress with a lot of dance background.
A)Do you think this part is good for me?
B)Song choice. I was thinking of doing something 80's, along the lines of FAME (but I think FAME is too iconic for me to do it justice). Any ideas?
Anything (advice, assistance...friendly banter....) is much appreciated! Thanks!

I was just in Footloose this past April--so I'm familiar with the show. Rusty sings rather high--up to an E6. If you can hit those high notes you should be fine.
Ariel is more of an alto with notes up to a C that's right under an E6.
Hope this helps. If you need anymore help, just PM me.

My school's having auditions for Footloose too. I'm a Bari/Bass and not particularly looking for a specific part, but a part nonetheless. The audition song has to be upbeat and resembling that 80's pop kind of song. It can be a show on or off broadway (Wedding Singer or something along those lines) or music from that actual era (The Police, Duran Duran, etc). Any ideas?

You took the words right out of my mouth. I really want to try out for Rusty too. I think that I'm going to sing "Let's Hear it for the Boy" for my audition since most of the kids at my school don't even know the plot until they get the script, it might give me a leg up.

Haha. I'm a big Stephen Colbert fan, so when I was going through some old episodes, I stumbled upon the one where he sings a duet of "I Write The Songs" with Barry Manilow. I got the song for my iPod and now my brother won't stop complaining about it.
