Follie Gals -- How Many?

Any idea of the number of Follie girls the script calls for? Do you find most shows cast more than the scripted number?
choochoo

In the script there are eight follies girls plus Patsy (the dumb blonde) and Tess (the woman whom Zangler is in love with/the dance director). The other girls are:
Mitzi, Elaine, Louise, Susie, Betsy, Margie, Sheila, and Vera. Mitzi is also featured in a dance duet with Bobby in "I Can't Be Bothered Now".

In our cast they didn't add any extra follie's girls but I don't know about other productions of it.

Hope this helped!

I am currently in rehearsal for this show right now....and we have 12 follies girls.

and Mitzi doesnt have to a duet with bobby in I can't be bothered now...it doesnt say that in the script!

When I was in it three years ago, we just had the 10 Follies girls listed in the script.

our production had 15-20 follies and it worked out well,
the solo that "Mitzi has with Bobby" was given to Tess instead in our production

we just choreographed i can't be bothered now....and I do that tap duet thingy with the girl who plays Betsy!!!

Our cast list just went up. We're only doing the 10 scripted girls. I got cast as Sheila. Big surprise to me, but great nonetheless.

The cast that I just dropped out of had 12. Now they have 11...

What the director did is this: she made everybody that she hadn't pre-cast a Follies girl. There are usually 10... anyone else is added by the director, but the more the merrier.

I was Betsy in our production and also had the duet. Very Happy

The most I've seen in a show was 15.

There are 10 listed in the script, but I believe ours had 12 (yes Sean?) and we just made up 2 names for them so they could be listed in the program.
