She certainly did in London, so I would assume the same for Broadway - it's a very cool effect in a very cool show!

She definately does fly over the audience. She does it at the end of the show.

so my next question is...how do they do it????

Fairy dust |

She wears a harness connected to two wires, which in turn is connected to the ceiling of the auditorium. She also has another two wires trailing from behind her which control her outward swing. |

She makes a lovely silhouette on the prosc from her follow spot.

Yes, when I saw her in London she flew directly over my head, only about two yards above me! I had terrible balcony seats, (I was on vacation at the time, and hadn't planned on seeing the show) but it was worth it to see her so closely with that wonderful smile of hers!

I love the pcitre of her in the vocal / piano book for the Rooftop duet.

It's done the same way as the witches flew over the audience in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK some years ago. |

Fairy dust, indeed. When I saw it I sat in the box seats and she flew right next to me, a few feet away. It's actually pretty cool, and it's designed well. |

Oh yes, she has to have her umbrella regularly sprinkled by Tinkerbell. |

I LOVED THAT PART OF THE SHOW.
Oh man. For serious, I was crying. Part of that was that Mary Poppins was the first Broadway production I saw, and I couldn't believe I was really there, watching her fly. D: |
