First Trip to the GershwinNot only that, but my first Broadway experience ever is quickly approaching! I purchased tickets for Wicked without much knowledge of the theatre layout. I consulted the seating chart of course, but I'm still pondering if I made a good purchase. I passed over row Y orchestra seating in order to get First Mezz, row D (last row). Did I make a rookie mistake? And just how high up will I be, high enough that I need visual aid like binoculars? If anyone has any additional tips the first time theatre goer wouldn't likely know, please do tell.
Thanks.

Your first rookie mistake was buying tickets for Wicked.
Your second rookie mistake was buying those seats.

1) Agrees with Wicked purchase...psh, you should've bought something else
2) I actually PREFER mezz seats, so I think you did fine by switching from orchestra. Plus, with the older theaters, no matter where you sit, you can see everything.
Yesterday, I had last row seats to A Chorus Line and didn't feel cheated at all.

I like sitting (for any theatre) in the middle row of the Orchestra or the first row Mezzanine.

nothing wrong with seeing wicked. And your seats should be fine. I've never been able to afford anything out of the balcony (except for phantom but i had to get near the front of the orchestra for that) but even in the back of the balcony i've always been able to see shows fine and enjoy them.

I sat in those seats a month ago, they're a fine choice for Wicked as you can take in the dance scenes much better from up there. However, I will say that seeing Defying Gravity from row 4 center is the ultimate for me.
