Update. Audtitions are tomorrow. I've been working on my song for a couple hours a day for the past few days.

I'm trying to get a little dance in, which is hard because I'm getting over a sprained ankle.

Cast list wont go up until after thanksgiving break...cross your fingers for me.

Oh...btw...My roommate just found out she's gonna be the stage manager. I'm real happy for her.

Vocal auditions done and done. I was surprisingly pleased with song.

I got a few complements when it was over and done with.

Of the guys, the guy I want to get Bobby did the best, so that's a good sign.

We have dance auditions tomorrow and we do our readings, and more singing if the vocal director wants it.

We find out after Thanksgiving how we did. I'll let you know.

Cast list went up sooner than expected. My roommate called me this morning to say "Congrats, you're a follies girl."

I was stunned. Me, who auditioned on a sprained ankle, who's never done tap IN MY LIFE, who actually said aloud as I danced "I'm obviously NOT a dancer." I got cast as a follies girl.

My roommates boyfriend did not get Bobby. I'm real sad about that, but I think he's going to be the assistant stage manager.

Anyway...thank you everyone who wished me luck...I'll let you know how the show goes and post some pictures.

Congrats to you my love! It's a great show! I played Tess when I did it. It was probably one of my favorite shows to be in! You will have a lot of fun. Keep me updated!

Well, rehearsals haven't even started yet but things are already starting to get going. Our costume designer taught me how to do measurements and I've been measureing most of the other cast memebers for their costumes. We've also pulled some stuff from costume storage, so now its just altering stuff to fit people. The only stuff that has to be made from scratch are the follie girl costumes.

Speaking of which, I found out that our costumes are going to be rather revealing...which I kind of figured from the start. The only problem...I have a rather large tattoo on my upper back. I had to order a tattoo covering kit along with my makeup kit.

With that and my tap shoes this show is going to cost me a good bit of money out of pocket.

My roommates boyfriend ended up taking his role after all. This show is going to be great.

First read through is tomorrow...I'll let you know how it goes.

First read through was awesome. We didn't just read it, we listened to the songs where the go and everything. It was the first time some of us had ever heard some of the songs.

We follies...are real scared about the tap and a few of them are freakin' about the high note on the end of "Slap that Bass" (I don't have to worry about it cause I'm an alto).

Everyones favorite duo....Lank and Irene. Oh my god it's so funny.

Anyway...We've got to be familiar with the music by January 4 (first rehearsal) and off book with music by January 13 (cause we start dancing the next week)

As for christmas break...I'm going to learn the songs and cut my hair off(our costumer said it's too long to be 30's)

Have fun. It's a good show, and the dancers get a lot of good music. It's not for everyone (personal reference here), but it's fun.

First week of rehearsal is over. We've been doing only music for now. We've learned all of the company songs and are starting solo and duet practice. Our dance instructor comes from New York next week. At the moment we're doing a little work out with our warm ups to get us ready for all the activity.

We've had one follie and one cowboy drop out and have to be replaced, but the transition was smooth for our new memebers.

I'll keep you updated.

We are offically off book on music. Rehearsal started at 6...Company was done by 8...then we split up...cowboys were done by 9....Follies by 9:30...Principals by 10. Dance starts monday.

I've been working in the costume shop for the past few weeks. We have everything pulled for the cowboys, Bobby and Zangler. The follies girls have dresses pulled for Entrance to Nevada (complete with hat and gloves), rehearsal outfits for Slap that Bass, and the rendering are done for our show costumes. We have a show girl looking outfit for Can't Be bothered (some of us in Green, some in Red) and a cowgirl looking thing for the end (some in pink, some in blue).

I'll try and post pictures when we get them made.

I'll see...I don't know thought....those kinds of things never leave the costume show...I'll see if I can get a copy maybe.

That's ok. I wasn't going to use them in a show. I just want them for personal use. I like to see different designs of the same show, to see different designer's visions of the show.

Oh, I wasn't worried about that...I just don't know if our designer would let me barrow them. I can show you pictures when they're made. I'm on costume crew...this stuff goes in my portfolio....so I'll have close up pictures.

We started tap last night. It is kicking my butt. It's fun though.

I'll have a picture soon. As one of the most experianced members of the costume crew, I was assigned one of Tess' costumes. Imagine this if you can.

Bright fucia pink....stretchy velvet. white fringe. Long sleeve leatard with a short skirt.

May sound weird...even tacky....but it's dang cute. This and four other pink ones with be with five blue ones (I'm one of the one's in blue).

I will probably finish the costume next week and then take a picture.

We're almost done with all the costumes. First dress in in less than a week. I'll be pictures up asap.

Tonight's rehearsal was awesome. As you can tell by my name, I REALLY wanted to be Irene. Well, tonight, she was out sick so our director asked me to stand in for her. It was amazing. I got to do the whole show. Everything down to her kisses with Bobby and Lank.

I can't wait til we open...even if I can't be Irene in the real preformance.

We had our final rehearsal tonight. We have tech runs on sunday and monday. Dress on tuesday and wed. then we open thursday. I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday we were auditioning.

Can't Be Bothered Now was the best its ever been tonight. Other things are coming together great too.

Through out rehearsals our dance instructor discovered a bad habbit of mine. I press my lips when I'm trying to focus on something. She's constantly yelling from the house..."Kelly! Lips!" Last night my roommate sat me down and told me that I really needed to work on it, cause when I do it...it looks like I don't know what I'm doing. She told me to smile instead....a smile looks like I know whats going on.

Our dance instructor pulled me aside and told me she was proud of me and how much I'd improved.

Also another great thing happened tonight. We were standing around after rehearsal and our Bobby came up behind me and started to put his hand on my shoulder then did a double take and said "Geez....one of you needs another hair cut...I thought you were Jessica."

Jessica, his girlfriend, is our Irene. He mis-took me for her. At that point the vocal director said "oh yeah, they do look a lot alike." It's was a good complement for me.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day in the costume shop working on the costumes.

OMG! That was the most fun I've had in a long time. It really went well. I'm so proud of us all.

Photo call is Sunday...so I'll post as many pictures as I can.

Oh...and the coolest thing happened.
First, if you don't know what magic circle is let me clearify. Magic circle is this thing we do about ten minutes before show. We get together (in a circle) and kind of laugh, do notes and other random stuff.
Well tonight during magic circle our Bobby stepped out and said...
"Freddy had been trying to find a nice engagement ring for Jessica's costume (our Irene) so I thought I'd help out and do one better." Then he gets down on one knee and pops the question.

It was so sweet. Of course she said yes...and she was beaming all night. It was really a nice mood setter for the show.

Our dance instructor is going back to new york today. I'm really sad to see her leave. Tonight is our first show without her...and it happens to be the night that my parents are coming too. I'm really nervous.

We had photo call today. We got LOTS of pictures. It took over an hour. When they're ready I can take a blank disk to the drama secretery and she'll make me a copy of all of them. I'll post them as soon as I have them.

cool pictures........but where are the telephones for I can't be bothered now? i know some productions probably dont use telephones for the song.....but then who are the girls talking too?

we just pantomimed the phones. I don't really remember what they were doing during that, cause the was my solo moment with bobby....so I wasn't doing that part.
