Fiddler appropriate songs?

I'm auditioning for Quisisana, which is a resort in Maine where you work by day and perform at night. Anyway, they do one musical all summer, and this year it's Fiddler. But for the audition, they want 2 contrasting pieces.. what should I do? I'm a mezzo/belter.. I've played Chava before, but the age range for this is 19-30.. and I'm 19.

Should I just do songs from that era? Because nothing really sounds quite like Fiddler to me. I don't know. Help!!

Thanks!

Ooh, I'm originally from Maine! Mr. Green

Well, I don't know if this will help you any, but maybe a song from Cabaret? Like "Maybe This Time"

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

no Cabaret is not at all suitable.

Go with something family friendly. there are no cute, sexy, titallating moments in Fiddler, and singing a sexy, titallating song will not go over well w/ the CDs.

I only mentioned Cabaret because she stated she could 'belt' so I thought of Liza Minelli in Cabaret, belting out "Maybe This Time".

Actually, The Music Man would be a perfect choice for a friendly sort of musical... you could always try "Till There Was You", "Goodnight, My Someone" etc.

How about: "People will say we're in love" from Oklahoma
"What Good Would the Moon Be?" by Kurt Weill from Street Scene (in Singers Musical Theater Anthology Vol1 Soprano)
"Back to Before" from Ragtime
"How Many Tears" from Martin Guerre
(ballads)

Uptempo-
"Without You" from My Fair Lady
" If I Were a Bell" G&D

If you don't have one already, invest in any of the Singers Musical Theater Anthology books, they have a mezzo/belt series.
