Female chorusI didn't see a thread about this anywhere, so...how much singing and dancing is there for the female chorus/wives/whatever? In terms of number of songs, or relative amount of stage time, or whatever's easiest to answer. And is the music hard to learn?

The Wives get like nothing. But they often double for the Pharaoh chorus, etc. Lots of opportunities for chorus.

Well, ok, the chorus then. How much do they do? (We're probably gonna have the wives/Pharaoh chorus/whoever else double as the same people.)

dancers in the prison bit
phoroahs people

I just did it and we were in on most of the songs. As for dancing, we were on choir risers and most of our movements were withoour hands. It really all depends on what your director wants to do.

This show is dominantly male. Thw wives do get some good dancing in "one more angel".
Unless you're really short on males and get some gals to be brothers.

In the show that I'm doing there is a lot of stuff for the female chorus (We only have a cast of 24, and then some children) so we're onstage a lot, even as the wives. Our director put us in for Benjamin Calypso (which looks really cool, if I may say so). I think it all depends on the director, but chorus for 'Joseph...' is an asset. When they're used right it looks awesome.
As for the singing, there are tons of different scores (in our show we've gone through a couple to try and piece together what we needed for dancing and singing) so it also depends on what score you're using. Personally, the music wasn't too hard to learn once we got past the point of needing to be able to read music. Then it's pretty easy by ear.

There are other published versions, but the only one you have the right to use is the one the R&H Library provided.
