Female Audition

Hey. I'm thinking about auditioning for Godspell in about a month. The notice says to use a pop/belt/rock song, preferably from a musical. The song I was considering is "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" from Grease. Now, I know the musical is far from great, but the song fits my voice well, and I feel really comfortable with it. I think it would be an appropriate fit for Sonia in Godspell because of both the acting and range. Would this be a bad choice? However, I am a high school student and this is a community show, so do you think it's unlikely that they would give that role to a younger person?

In a community show, it seems like the role of "Sonia" would go to an older woman as the director might not like the idea of a high school student playing a suggestive role in a production with adults. "Gilmer", "Robin" and "Peggy" are the roles I could most see being played by a high schooler when in an adult production.

Also, "There Are Worst Things I Could Do" can be overdone, its not in the style of the show and I'm not really sure it fits the character of "Turn Back, O Man."

I'd suggest trying for one of the roles I mentioned above and singing something from another Schwartz musical, perhaps Children of Eden as it is also biblical.
