Sutton Foster. Her voice is so pure and she just looks to natural on stage. She was born to be in theatre.

Sutton Foster because when she is on stage she just glows.

I'm also going to mention Sutton Foster-- she's just stunning! She's gawky, she's lanky, she's goofy off-stage but when she gets on-stage she is flawless, falling right into character. She gives great enthusiasm, agility, and energy in all her performances. The fact that she is able to embrace her goofiness (as seen in backstage interviews) makes her all the more loveable and relatable. Her humility and gratitude to fans also eclipse her outer beauty. Plus, she can sing AND tap-dance as if it was second nature. Wow.
I also love Ruthie Henshall and Kerry Ellis for being so versatile and having such strong, powerful voices. My guilty pleasure actress is Shonagh Daly, hehe...

Am I the only one who doesn't get the Kerry Butler thing?
I did not enjoy her portrayal of Audrey at all; I mean she's got a good voice, but the characterization just wasn't very authentic to me.
I dunno, just don't really get it...
Oh, and my fave current actress is probably Sherie Rene Scott. She's super talented and I have some stuff in common with her too!

Kerry Butler, kisses to you!
Anyway, I really like how she can change herself so much. Her automatic manerisms that people don't even notice, are obvious to her and she can change them.
I'm tired. So that didn't make much sense.
She's not my absolute favorite, I just couldn't think of her name, and then I was thinking about her and... I'm tired.

I like Kerry Butler too. I think she has a fantastic voice, and is a lot of fun to watch on stage. I saw Little Shop and thought she was just wonderful. I felt she took Audrey down to a much better level. Still ditzy and spacey, but not as relentlessly treble-squawkingly annoying as I find Ellen Greene's Audrey to have been. I'm really hoping she does the Little Mermaid if it goes to Broadway. I'd definitely see it if she did.
I'm also a HUGE Sutton fan. I saw Little Women, and was completely blown away. The show itself wasn't great, as we know, but she was absolutely fantastic. I've seldom been so moved by an individual performance. Wow, she's truly gifted.

Elaine Stritch and Tyne Daly. Why? Because they're old, not traditionally beautiful, but extraordinarily talented, which is what I love about Broadway versus Hollywood - talent comes before film presence and looks. Anyway, those are the actresses whose roles I end up playing and/or aspiring to play at this point in my life.

(Gasp!) Ellen Greene is Audrey!
I guess we'll agree to disagree on that one...

I also liked Kerry's Audrey better than Ellen Greene.

I agree that Kerry's Audrey was better. Although I may be bias because I adore Kerry! haha. I was going to mention her earlier so I'm glad somebody brought her up. She was absolutely amazing in Hairspray and Beauty and the Beast. She is another actress who really stands out on stage.
P.S. If you couldn't tell that I'm a huge fan of hers, just look at my icon! =]

Chita Rivera. I saw her this week and she is AMAZING beyond words. And I'm also a huge Sutton Foster fan. Diverse, authentic, and just plain good. Oh, add Betty Buckley. I saw her earlier this year and she is just wonderful.
