Favorite Sondheim Musical?

The question pretty much speaks for itself. Don't forget to post here to tell what you voted for and why!
Sweeney Hyde

Sweeney Todd.

We had a poll made like this with more choices...I can't find it though...telling your right now that you're going to have some people up in arms with only those choices. Laughing

I didn't want to list them ALL because that would take too long, LOL Laughing . I figured that these would be the most popular ones, sorry if I was wrong!

I'm actually most fond of Assassins, but Sweeney Todd could be a VERY close second.
Theatregeeke

I simply adore Company, I just love the whole concept of the show and the different styles of music you find in it.
However, I do love into the woods, it was one of the first musicals I ever saw on stage.
pish123c

Gypsy.
Dvarg

I love every single one. But mostly Sweeney Todd and Sunday In The Park Witj George.

And Anyone Can Whistle, Merrily We Roll Along, Follies and Pacific Overtures.

And Into the Woods.
Berger

A Little Night Music and The Frogs are my two favorite Sondheim shows.
Salome

I refuse to participate in a poll where sondheim's greatest show is reduced to "Other" but Gypsy and WSS are on the list and he only was part author of them.
Matthew

Company.
Mara

I find it difficult to choose between SitPwG and Company.

But usually SitPwG wins.
postmodern-mango-salsa

Assassins is so clever and intriguing and a little scary. It was scary how much I wanted to kill a president after seeing it. Assassins gets my vote followed closely by Sweeney and Company with Little Night Music going into 4th.

Being that I'm not as educated as many of you in the 'theory' of musical theatre, my reasons for liking Assassins are probably more simplistic and shallow than the average fan. I really like it, honestly, because the music to me sounds a lot more modern than much of Sondheim's other work.

A shame everyone else was dissatisfied with it, then, which is why it has been rewritten a million times.

not a millin times./the london production was am istake..goldman and sondheim both hated it. the revival in new york did some minor changes and tightening but its essentially the same script.

From what I've heard, a lot essential stuff was cut, like several important monologues, etc. Sadly only the revised book is now availiabe.

Also, it seems noone really decided wether or not to go for a one act structure.
