Favorite Show By WildhornWe know his show are all cheesy. Yet, there are a ton of people who love it. If you don't like Wildhorn at all, just don't respond. Thank you.
Anyways, which is your favorite and why?

My favorite is The Scarlet Pimpernel. It isn't completely pop and rock with a few more orchestral pieces...also some humor in it which I think really helps his shows...I think the problem with Jekyll and Hyde is that I don't think there is a single line that you are SUPPOSED to laugh at...too melodramatic in places. Pimpernel also has some really great songs that can stand on their own, espicially Where's the Girl? I also love Falcon in the Dive, Prayer, The Riddle, Into the Fire, and possibly my favorite song in the whole thing is Madame Guillotine...such a vicious song, both musically and for what is actually happening on the stage.

Pimpernel is the only Wildhon show I like. the book is well written and witty..the lyrics are strong and with the exception of 4 songs the score is well done.I hated the changes they made mid-run though.

I'll agree...the added songs don't help it and aren't very good and just slow the show down.

It was a hard choice but I picked Dracula. The music is GORGOUS! It's really a tie between Dracula and Pimpernel.
I HATE Jekyll and Hyde!

^There is more to a musical than music.
Might I ask where you heard Dracula? Did you actually see the Broadway run of the show?

I didn't get to see the musical unfortunately. I heard of it through Drew Sarich. He played Dracula in Switzerland in 2005. I couldn't understand it so I looked up Dracula and found a video called "I Was Born to Love you" and LOVED that song. So yea....
Maybe I should have picked Pimpernel....at least I have that CD.
I am waiting to see Pimpernel and Dracula

I have to say, Pimpernel is his best show hands down. Followed by Civil War, followed by Jekyll. Jekyll has one of the best musical scores ever, but it's plagued by a weak script and too many pop songs like "This is the moment" "someone like you" "a new life" if all the music was more like "i need to know" "board of governors" "the way back" "confrontation" this would be the epic gothic thriller it should be.

I just realized I've heard one song from The Civil War. My school's scola performed For The Glory. It was Beautiful!

I have only ever seen Jekyll and Hyde in a concert setting, which was nice because some of the music is good.
But as a musical, I can see how it might drag on and be overly serious and melodramatic. Then again, the same could be said for POTO and it's the longest-running Broadway show in history.

no the same can't be said. Jekyll & Hyde has a terrible script. and yet sometimes you wish you were going through the script instead of stopping the action for another pointless ballad sung by Lucy. It's just a flawed show and a concert is probably the only way you can enjoy it. Phantom has some redeeming qualities to it. It has great special effects and one of the best Finales in theatre history (the 3way between christine raoul and phantom, yeah...I said 3way)
