What's a restaurante? Is that like the female equivelent of a restaurant?
Catherine

LMAO Heather!
Joshua

There's this place in my city called Tommy's Pizza that has the best pizza I've ever had. It's amazing. Maybe not my favorite, but it's pretty damn good.
Quique

A couple of my faves:

- Plum Tree Inn: Best Chinese food I've tasted.

- Tango Grill: Argentine food. My favorite dish is Pollo al Champignon.
Annie

Teany in NYC.
I try to go whenever I'm in the city. It's ALL vegetarian, mostly vegan, and about 100 types of tea! The place is owned by Moby. Very Happy
Micaela?

Pacific Thai-Then have the best thai and boba that I have aver had.

Kianti's-They are known for their pizza in my area.

and of course, my family's restaurant.

There used to be this other Chinese food place downtown that I went to every weekend. The owners knew me and even gave me free food and donuts. But now it's closed, and got replaced by some random coffeehouse. Sad

Now I go to this other place called China King Buffet, which I absolutely love.

As for fast food restaurants: Taco Bell, hands down.
Amber

Italian Bistro because there is this AMAZING waiter. I always, always request that my family sit in his "section", and if we can't, he comes over to visit us. Plus, they have amazingazing food, especially the farfalle caprese. Their tiramisu is to die for as well.

I also love Victor Cafe, at 12th and Dickinson in South Philly. It's this classy teeny Italian restaurant, and all the waiters and waitresses sing arias from operas. They all have amazing voices, and if you ask, you can sing there too. I did "Quando m'en vo" from La Boheme there a few years back. OH and if you ever go, get the pine nut gnocchi with polenta. It is super.

For a good lunch, sometimes I go to Stein's Famous Deli for a poppy seed bagel with lox and cream cheese. It is kinda expensive for lunch because I like the GOOD Nova salmon, not the cheaper salty stuff, but it is really filling and delicious and wonderful. <3 They also have knishes, and I love a good knish.

Pizza
Cheap option: Charlie's Pizza, at Adams and the Boulevard. They have the most incredible thin crust brick oven pizza ever. Not too much cheese, but not overloaded with sauce.
More expensive, but TOTALLY WORTH IT: Tacconelli's Pizzaria, at Almond and Somerset streets. They've been around for as long as my dad's been alive. He used to clean the pizza ovens there as a kid for pocket money. Umm, their red margherita pie is really good, but their white pie with spinach and tomato is excellent. A lot of pizza spots around put far too much garlic on their white pie, but they hardly use any. It is DELICIOUS, but you must call in the morning and order your pizza in advance. They only make so many per day and usually sell out of dough before dinnertime.

For fast food, I like Quizno's for their Chicken Carbonara sub, and Saladworks, and Yanagi, where amazing sushi is made. <3

There's this new Mexican restraunt (I can not spell that word!) in my town called "Rincon." It's amazing. Weird, but amazing. They have this incredible cheeze and beef dip, which is basically why I go there.
Kiwi

Rusted Sun Pizzeria is a little place around here that has some of the most amazing pizza I've ever had.
Theaterfan101

there's this great little Italian place near my house. We (my family and I) are greeted by hugs and a kiss on the check by the owner when ever we go in. The waiters all no us. When redoing the menu the added eggplant on as a dish instead of a special, partly because I (and other people) ask for it every time we come.
I love it.
Quique

How can anyone stand Taco Bell?

Why, it's nothing but brown crap paste; fake, plastic-like cheese; and wilted lettuce. Mad

Y'all should taste real Mexican food and compare. You'll never go back! Shocked

Real Mexican food is the most amazing stuff ever.

What IS a "restaurante"?

Dear Cake_in_Song,

What IS a "restaurante"? Did you see that "word" somewhere, and did someone tell you that a "restaurante" was the female equivelent of a restaurant?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Buff Daddy

A place called Navarros - sensational food with excellent service. have never had a bad meal there.

Buff Very Happy

I have had real Mexican food, and I'm okay with both. Obviously the fast food version will not be as superb as the real thing.

My favorite is Olive Garden, followed by Red Lobster.

Well, that's my point. Only, Taco Bell, imo, is an exception...it really, really is a very poor imitation of Mexican food. I doubt they even use real ground beef. Their tortillas taste like stale pita bread. The cheese tastes like something that started out in powder form.

But if others enjoy it, more power to them.

Though El Pollo Loco does a much better job delivering fast Mexican food, imo.

Re: What IS a "restaurante"?

Dear Cake_in_Song,

Your "Current Obsession" is "Scavenging for food", so perhaps you were in need of some food, and you were very exhausted, when you first read the original message...?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hmmmmm... favourite restaurant?

Uptown, it'd be Overtons at the bottom of St. James's Street.
Or what used to be the Belfry in Halkin Street, Knightsbridge - I think it's now Mosimann's Belfry. It may still be up to the old standard. Haven't been there in years, though.

There's a superb Italian restaurant near us that serves the best food outside Venice, according to my father (a cosmopolitan world traveller of many years experience). We go there for high days and holidays when we're rich. They've known us for 30 years now... greet us like old friends!

For basic fun eating out, there's the Wing Yip chinese restaurant on Purley Way. Basic Chinese, nothing sensational, but good fun, and it's always full of Chinese people, so must be acceptable standard.

DENNY'S! [Mod edit - don't swear] DENNY'S!

I love pancakes and crappy coffee. That is the way to my heart. If any man wants me to fall in love with him, he will take me to a denny's in the middle of the day, buy me pancakes and coffee, and camp there for 3 hours while we discuss politics, religion, and art.
Elphaba22

I love Olive Garden, and McDonalds, and Ana's Taqueria.
I also really like gilt in NYC, my mom took me there for my birthday, the food was amazing, although I will probably only go there that one time in my life.
lizavert

Ming's Dynasty, a chinese place that I used to live just up the street from. Best lunch buffet in Denver.

And The Bull and Bush, an English style pub. They have the best fish and chips.
shakalakababy

As far as like chain restaurants go, i love IHOP. IHOP pwns Denny's anyday.
I also like pomodoro, the cheesecake factory, and good old subway

Ok - here we go.....

Fav "Hole-in-the-wall" Mexican: El Tapatio, or Los Gordos. Two different cities, both very very yummy. They are these tiny little places off the beaten path but they have the best tacos! And, yes, they are real Mexican food places.

Fav sit down Mex: Casa Ramos

Fav sit down "family style" place: Chili's

Fav "party-atmosphere" place: TGIFriday's

Fav fast food: In-N-Out

Fav breakfast: Eggs N' Things, a yummy little place in my hometown. You get a free swedish pancake with your meal. Who wouldn't love that?? And pretty much everything there is good.

Fav fancy place: Ruth's Chris Stakehouse. AHHHHMAZING steaks. Seriously. They are so so so good. Expensive, but wonderful.

Fav "fun" place: The Meting Pot. It's a FONDUE restaurant!!! COME ON!! You gotta love it. It's so good. And it's not just a meal, it's an event.

Fav Japanese: Fuji Restaurant in my hometown

Fav "your-meal-is-the-show" place: Beni Hana. Those chef's are pretty cool. The food is yummers too.

Ok - so now I'm really really hungry. And if you couldn't tell, I can't just pick onoe favorite place. I can't! And you can't make me!!!

We have a 5 star rated cajun place here in town that is famous throughout southern California called the Palace Grill. It's a friendly place where you don't have to get real dressed up to go. The food is spectacular and the service is perrenially voted as the best in town. The bar serves spectacular unique drinks (such as a jalepeno cajun martini) that are to die for - just don't drive afterward. At certain intervals during the evening the staff passes around song sheets and a sing-along ensues where the service staff all walk around and individually toast each patron - I know, it's just a way to promote more liquor sales but it sure is fun. It's my kind of place: great food, fun atmosphere, not uptight or pretentious.
lesmisloony

O'Charley's.

Mushroom swiss burger with brocolli casserole instead of fries.

Ohman.
wicked_diva

My favorite hole-in-the-wall is this Dim Sum restaurant on DeAnza Blvd, whose name I don't even know.

But my two favorite restaurants otherwise are Chevy's (tex-mex wonderfulness) and TGI Fridays.

And for fast food, nothing beats Sonic, not even In-n-out.
