Favorite Part/ Line/ SongHey, I just wondered what everyone's favorite part, line, and song was.
I think my favorite part is Be Like the Bluebird. It's really funny. But, my favorite song I think is Anything Goes. And, my favorite line is when Reno sings "When grandmama whose age is eighty in night clubs is getting matey with gigalos, Anything Goes" haha, I crack up everytime I hear that.
So, what's your favorite line?

"I've got hot pants for you!"
and my favourite song is Buddie Beware, but there's too many great bits to write down here.

"I have Hot Pants For you" is definately the shows best line.
I played Hope so personally i love "Its Delovely" (although it wasnt originally in Anything Goes) .
Porter is a genius..far too many great songs to , "Buddy Beware""Easy Too Love"
and all the songs added form other Poter shows like Freindship..I want To Row on the Crew" and "Goodbye Little Dream Goodbye".

My favorite song to watch was "Friendship" because the choreography in my production just made it such a fun number.
My favorite song that I was in was "Take Me Back To Manhattan" because I don't know why. "Blow Gabrielle Blow" was really fun too, but there were so many people dancing on the stage at once, it was a little crazy.
My favorite line was when Mrs. Harcourt asks Billy if he's Spanish or French and Billy answers "Neither. I am... Chinchillian!" But that's because I have an inside joke with one of my friends about chinchillas and another joke about the actor that was Billy.
The "I have hot pants for you" line I think really is the best.
I don't know what my favorite part of the show is. Hmmm... I'll have to think about that.

I also loe the line in the title song...
"When you hear that Lady Mendel standing up
now does a hand spring, landing up on her toes!
Anything Goes!"

Is that from one of the versions I haven't seen? I did the one with Bonnie, and I saw the one with whats her face instead. I didn't notice that line, though.
Another scene I like is the entire hot pants scene. The actors in our play made that scene hysterically funny. Ah, I miss this show.

the line is in the original version of the show. unfortunatlely alot of great lines and lyrics were cut from the original 1934 version to the 1962.

I think in general the hot pants scene is one of the funniest...it slayed the audience everytime, too.
It's not a "line", but I loved the part where Billy tells Mrs. Harcourt the ship is sinking, and she comes on with her life jacket and all of her jewlery...don't know why that's so funny...but it made me laugh every time.
I think almost all of the lyrics in Anything Goes are sheer brilliance. You're the Top is SO clever.

"i'm a nominee of the G.O.P.
or GOP!
but if baby I'm the bottom
YOURE THE top!"
so true today haha!

I'm pretty biased because I played Erma, but I love Buddy Beware! Sultry and sassy!

YES! haha.
i forgot one that i really liked, in the title song:
'if mae west you like, or me undressed you like, why nobody will oppose!"
oh cole porter. such a genius!

Porter's internal rhymes always excite me..such as:
"on that magical night
when the stars by their light
give mystery
to the sleeping lagoon
while a haunting guitar
not too near
not to far
gaily hums away
strums away
a titilating tune!"

^ Gypsy in Me is one of my FAVORITE pieces. I knew quite a bit about Anything Goes before being in it...but surprisingly had never heard Gyspy in Me!! It was one of my absolute favorite numbers.

Gypsy in Me was originally Hope's song in the 1934 version. it was given to Lord Evelyn in the '87 revival.

Shame on me! I didn't even know that.
That's very interesting, though...

Well, my favorite part in the script is probably the "hot pants" scene. (By the way, this is all referring to the '62 version, that's the only one i'm really familiar with)
But my favorite part of my production was that we included a little terrier puppy in the cast. We had Mrs. Harcourt carry the dog around for the entire show. And in the part where I (Billy) had to make a beard, we had me take the beard from the dog's fur instead of a fur coat. It got the biggest laughs of the whole show.

Yeah, our Mrs. Harcourt carries around the Stage Managers papillion throughout the show. Only we use a fake when Moon has to shove it down his pants....
Oh jeez being on here keeps reminding me that we open next week!!!! Ahh I'm getting so nervous. Let the tech rehersals begin!

The entire cast's favorite line was cut
it was my line "hey what's going on here, this isn't a lynching is it?" and of course since i was one of the three black people in the cast we couldn't keep it. But our director didn't notice until maybe a week before...

My favorite line was definatley the 'Hot Pants' line. Although, the Chinchillian line did get alot of laughs, especially when someone said "Oh yeah! I studied Chinchillians in school!"
Haha.
Favorite song would be Friendship. We'd have the whole ensamble backstage dancing along (quietly) as the trio was on stage performing it.

My favorite parts (besides my own- the camera woman scene and the girl solo in "No Cure Like Travel") were:
The Hot Pants scene
"Be Like the Bluebird" (our Moon was tone deaf, and it made it completely hysterical)
The Chinchillian scene
"Blow, Gabriel, Blow" (I was one of the featured dancers and ended up getting really into it)
"Let's Misbehave" (The entire cast would be "sexy" dancing to this backstage. Our Evelyn, like our Moon, was very tone deaf, and our Reno was... amazing. The contrast made it so funny)
Oh, who am I kidding? I loved the whole thing.
