Favorite Oliver recording

and why?
Tom

Didn't Oliver open in London in 1960, not 1958 and it opened on Broadway in 1963. I remember the original cast performing on Ed Sullivan the same night as the Beatles and that was February of '64.

Also, the Broadway cast did not record the album. It was the pre-Broadway touring cast that recorded the record. The cast had changed by the time the show made it's way into NYC, even though most major actors were the same (minus Davy Jones of the Monkees who did Broadway but not the original tour or album)

My favorite recording is the original London cast with Ron Moody.

None of the above! Overall I like the 90s London Revival with Johnathan Pryce.

I used to have a copy of that recording (our MD made copies for us), but it stopped working correctly (constant skips).

So I bought the OBCR...and was disappointed! I actually liked the London Revival better! This is the only show recording I can think of where I don't like the OBC best.

I started a poll with the Pryce recoding on it use that thread.

My favourites are the original London, and the palladium revival. I have a great affection for the show, because my brother was in the 1967 London production as one of the orphans/Fagin's gang, while Barry Humphries was playing Fagin for the first time.
