Favorite Alfred Drake Role

The man and legend..Broadway's premiere leading man from 1943 to 1973. Which of his musical theatre roles was your favorite?
Marcellus

The only thing I actually saw him in was taking a bow from the audience at the televised Tony awards in the late 1980's.

I voted for Fred Grahm/Pertutio in Kiss Me, Kate. It's such a great role(s). We all know that that is one of the roles that everyone does like him. You can do Curly or Haj differently but everyone is doing Drake when they do Kiss Me, Kate.

btw any thoughts about Drake as MacHeath in Beggar's Holiday?

I wish there was a recording available..Drake as MacHeath and Zero Mostel as Peachum. WOW.

REALLY?!?! WOW IS RIGHT! The only people missing are Richard Kiley, Jerry Orbach, and John Cullum!

What happened with him during the in between years?? Anyone know, its like he was big, then poof nothing. He did spuratic tv work after 1975, but he didn't die until 92. He probably still had a good couple shows in him.

Drake has some health problems in the late 1970s and early 80. it made performing on stage impossible for him.

Your prayers are (partially) answered. I do not have this, and Blue Pear is not noted for sound quality, only rarity of source material:
